The Gunnison Greenbacks program, established by the Gunnison Country Chamber of Commerce, is a community initiative designed to keep dollars circulating locally and strengthen our economy.

Greenbacks function like cash and can be purchased dollar-for-dollar through the Gunnison Chamber. They must be ordered in advance and picked up at the Chamber office (500 E. Tomichi Ave., Gunnison, CO).

Accepted at the discretion of each business, Greenbacks are welcomed at many local shops, restaurants, sporting goods stores, and service providers.

Each year, a special Holiday Greenback Exchange is held in early December, where shoppers can purchase discounted Greenbacks (for example, $80 in cash exchanged for $100 in Greenbacks). This limited-time event adds extra value while encouraging local holiday shopping.

In September, the Chamber also distributes Western Greenbacks to Western Colorado University students, bringing students off campus and into local shops and restaurants.

Every Greenback spent supports Gunnison businesses and keeps money working in our community.
